Rates

Rates are approximately 8.5 (Australian) or 6 (US) cents per word (excludes references). A standard page of 250 double-spaced words is approximately $AUD21 or $US15.

Currencies

Please consult a currency converter as a guide to currency conversions. The Australian dollar (AUD) is approximately USD 0.70.

A 3,000-word manuscript will cost approximately $AUD260/$US180 (excludes references).

Word count

Keep in mind that a scientific manuscript is approximately 3,000 to 6,000 words, an Honours thesis is about 10,000 words and a PhD thesis is about 30,000 words. References should not be taken into consideration when calculating the total word count, but please include Acknowledgements, Conflicts of Interest statements, Funding Sources and Figure Legends as well as Supplementary Methods and Figure Legends (if applicable).

References

These will be checked for consistency between citations within the text and the Reference List. Please note that errors within references will be noted in track changes  Authors will then need to make the appropriate alterations themselves in their reference manager before regenerating the reference list. Cost is about $AUD68/$US48 for an average reference list of approximately 35 references.

Surcharges

A 10% surcharge will be made for work over the weekend or on a public holiday (Australian).

A 10% surcharge applies for work that requires substantial editing.

A 25% surcharge applies for work with a 48-hour turnaround.

A 50% surcharge applies for work with a 24-hour turnaround.

Discounts

A 10% discount applies when the number of words is greater than 10,000 or for long-term collaborations. Student discounts will be negotiated.

Turnaround time

An estimate will be provided. For instance, a turnaround time of three business days applies to documents of approximately 3,000 words and up to twelve business days may apply for a PhD thesis. Manuscripts are allowed one recheck, if required, before incurring extra charges.

Response to Reviewers

Any changes needed to the manuscript after review by journal reviewers will be charged an hourly rate of $AUD68/h ($US48/h).

Payment

By electronic bank transfer (any costs incurred are the responsibility of the client) or by PayPal, which accept major credit cards.

Payment must be in Australian dollars.
